Replace a color in a photo
Most “change color” jobs are about one thing in the picture: a T-shirt, a wall, a car, a logo, a product shown in a color you don’t sell yet. In Replace one color mode you choose that color, choose the new one, and every matching pixel is changed — the rest of the photo stays as it was.
To choose the color to replace, click it on the image. You can also use the color field, or one of the Main colors chips that the tool finds in your image when it opens (the most saturated main color is preselected). The preview updates as you move any setting, and the “Hold to see the original” button lets you compare before and after.
Tolerance and shading
Real objects are never one flat color: a red shirt has dark red folds and pink highlights. Two settings handle that:
- Tolerance (1–100%) decides how far from the chosen color a pixel may be and still change. Raise it until the whole object is covered; lower it if the background starts to change too. Pixels close to the limit are blended rather than switched, so edges don’t look cut out.
- Keep shading and texture (on by default) moves each pixel by the same hue, saturation and lightness offset that separates your source color from the new one. A dark fold of the red shirt becomes a dark fold of the blue shirt. Turn it off for a flat fill — useful for logos and icons with solid colors.
| Goal | Tolerance | Keep shading |
|---|---|---|
| Recolor clothing, a car, a wall | 25–45% | On |
| Swap a flat logo color | 5–15% | Off |
| Change a gray or white object | 20–35% | On |
When the color you replace is a gray, white or black, it has no hue to shift from, so the new color’s hue and saturation are applied directly while the brightness differences are kept.
Shift every color at once
Shift all colors works on the whole image. The hue slider turns every color around the color wheel — 180° turns pure blue into yellow and green into magenta — while saturation and brightness let you make the result more vivid, more muted or lighter. Grays stay gray when you raise saturation, so skies and skin react more than neutral areas.

Find the exact colors first
If you need to match a precise brand color, read its code from a reference image with the Image Color Picker and enter it in the “New color” picker. To see which colors dominate a photo before recoloring it, try Color Palette from Image.
Full quality, on your device
The live preview works on a copy reduced to at most 1,400 pixels on its longest side so the sliders stay smooth; Download applies the same settings to the full-size image. PNG files keep their transparency. All processing happens in your browser with the Canvas API — your image is never uploaded, and the saved file doesn’t carry the original EXIF metadata such as GPS location.
