LinkedIn banner size at a glance
The LinkedIn profile banner (LinkedIn calls it the background photo) is 1584 × 396 pixels, a 4:1 ratio. LinkedIn’s help center recommends that size and accepts JPG or PNG files smaller than 8 MB. Anything with a different shape is cropped when you upload it, which is why a random photo rarely looks right there.
This resizer is set to the LinkedIn banner by default. Choose an image, keep “Fill and crop” and click Download: you get a JPG of exactly 1584 × 396 px, ready to upload. Your profile photo covers part of the lower-left of the banner, and the app shows it narrower than a desktop browser does, so keep important text near the center. Our LinkedIn banner size guide goes further on layout and safe areas.

Banner safe areas
Banners are the images most often cut off, because each platform crops them differently by device:
- LinkedIn: the profile photo sits over the lower-left part of the banner. Keep a clear zone there and put text in the center or on the right.
- YouTube: the full 2560 × 1440 image is only visible on TVs. YouTube’s help puts the area that is safe on every device at 1235 × 338 px at the 2048 × 1152 minimum size — a wide strip in the middle. Put your channel name and logo there.
- X: the profile photo overlaps the bottom left of the header, and the X Help Center notes that the top and bottom can be trimmed on some screens.
- Facebook: the cover is shown wider on desktop than on phones, where the sides are cut. Keep text in the middle.
Fill and crop or fit with bars
“Fill and crop” scales the image to cover the whole size and trims the edges equally, keeping the center — best for photos. “Fit whole image” keeps the entire picture and adds bars in the color you choose — best for logos, slides and screenshots where nothing may be cut. The result is always a JPG at 92% quality by default (adjustable), the format every platform accepts. To keep a whole photo square instead, use Make Image Square; to check a ratio first, use the Aspect Ratio Calculator; and to make the file lighter, Compress Image.
Everything runs in your browser: your image is not uploaded, and EXIF metadata such as GPS location is not copied into the resized file.
