Two photos, one picture

Putting photos side by side is one of the most common edits there is — a before-and-after of a renovation, two outfits to compare, a baby photo next to a grown-up one, or a couple of shots for a single Instagram post. On a phone that usually means a collage app or a shortcut, and collage layouts often crop the photos to fit their frames. This tool does just this one thing, in your browser.

When you choose your photos, each one is scaled so they share the same height (side by side) or the same width (stacked). The smallest photo sets the size (capped at 4,000 px), so no picture is enlarged and blurred. The proportions of every photo are kept — nothing is stretched or cropped.

Layout options

Setting What it does
Layout Side by side places photos left to right. Stacked puts them top to bottom — better for tall Stories or for comparing wide landscape shots.
Space between photos A gap from 0 to 10% of the shared photo height (width when stacked), filled with the background color.
Outer border A frame around the whole picture, 0 to 10% of the same size, also in the background color.
Background color White by default; black or any color works well for a gallery look.
Save as JPG (smaller) or PNG (lossless).

The preview updates instantly as you change anything, and the final size in pixels is shown under it.

Tips for great comparisons

  • Before and after: take both photos from the same spot and with the same zoom. If one is a mirror image (front camera), fix it first with Flip Image.
  • Instagram: for a square post, combine the photos and then pad the result with Make Image Square, or resize it to a portrait 4:5 post with the Social Media Image Resizer.
  • Many photos in one long strip: use stacked mode, or Merge Images for longer vertical strips like screenshots.
  • The opposite job — cutting one wide picture into several parts — is done by the Image Splitter.

Side by side on iPhone, Android and Windows

Apple’s Photos app has no collage button (Apple’s Shortcuts app can combine images after some setup), Google Photos’ collage layouts may crop each photo, and on a computer it is a manual job in Paint or Preview. This page works the same in Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox on every device, so you can do it without installing anything. Our guide How to put two photos side by side compares every method.

Private by design

Your photos are read and combined locally; nothing is uploaded, and the page keeps working offline once loaded. The saved file is created from pixels only, so the EXIF metadata of the originals (including GPS location) is not carried over.

Frequently asked questions

How do I put two pictures side by side?

Open this page, choose both photos at once (or add the second with "+ Add photos"), keep the "Side by side" layout and click Download. The photos are scaled to the same height automatically so they line up perfectly.

Do the photos need to be the same size?

No. Every photo is resized to the height of the smallest one (or the width, in stacked mode), keeping its proportions. Nothing is cropped and nothing is upscaled, so the result stays sharp.

Can I combine more than two photos?

Yes. There is no limit set by us; they are placed in the order shown in the list, and you can move a photo earlier with the arrow button or remove it.

Can I add a white border between the pictures?

Yes. "Space between photos" adds a gap and "Outer border" adds a frame around the whole image, both in the background color you choose — white by default.

Which format should I save in?

JPG gives a smaller file that every app and social network accepts. PNG is lossless and best when the photos contain text or screenshots.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The photos are combined by your browser on your device and never sent anywhere.
